FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions about EFT Tapping & working with me.

Trying something new naturally comes with questions. Here are some of the things people often want to know before getting started.

About EFT Tapping

What is EFT?

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is commonly called Tapping. It combines focusing on thoughts, feelings or experiences with gently tapping specific acupressure points using your fingertips.

Does tapping hurt?

No. The tapping is gentle and is performed by you on your own face and upper body.

Are there needles?

No. Although EFT uses points associated with acupressure, there are no needles.

Do I need to believe in EFT?

No. You are welcome to be sceptical. I’d much rather you approach EFT with honest curiosity than feel you need to believe something because I do.

What if I feel silly tapping?

You might at first! Anything unfamiliar can feel slightly strange. Most people quickly become accustomed to the process.

What happens during a session?

What will we do?

We’ll begin by talking about what you would like support with. I will then guide you through tapping while we focus gently on relevant thoughts, feelings or experiences. We pause regularly and allow what you notice to guide the session.

Do I have to tell you everything?

No. You decide what you are comfortable sharing. It is not always necessary to describe every detail of an experience in order to work with the emotions around it.

What if I become emotional?

Emotions are welcome. You don’t need to apologise for crying, becoming upset or needing a moment. We can slow down whenever necessary.

What if nothing happens?

Then tell me. There is no “correct” response you need to produce. Honest feedback helps me understand how you are experiencing the process.

Practical questions

Are sessions online?

Yes. Sessions are conducted online by video call, allowing us to work together from different locations.

What do I need for an online session?

A reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and somewhere private where you feel comfortable speaking freely.

Can I work with you if I live outside the UK?

Potentially, yes. Online sessions allow me to work with people in different countries, subject to any applicable professional or regulatory requirements.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no universal number. Some issues may be relatively focused while others have several layers or are connected with longer-term experiences. We’ll discuss your objectives and review how things are progressing rather than committing you to an arbitrary number of sessions.

How much does a session cost?

Please contact me for current session information. We can discuss the practical details before you decide whether you would like to proceed.

Is EFT suitable for everyone?

Is EFT a replacement for therapy or medical treatment?

No. EFT is a complementary approach and should not replace appropriate medical, psychiatric or psychological treatment.

Should I stop medication if EFT is helping?

No. Never stop or change prescribed medication without speaking with the healthcare professional responsible for your treatment.

What if I am experiencing a mental-health crisis?

EFT sessions with me are not an emergency or crisis service. If you believe you may harm yourself or somebody else, or you require urgent mental-health support, please contact the emergency or crisis services available where you live.

Can you guarantee EFT will work for me?

No ethical practitioner should guarantee a particular outcome. Everyone is different. I can offer my training, experience and support, but I won’t promise a result that nobody can responsibly guarantee.

Can children use EFT?

Tapping can be adapted for children and young people and its simple physical nature can make it an accessible way to explore emotions.

Working with children requires an age-appropriate approach and appropriate parental or guardian involvement and consent.

Do I have to use Bush Flower Essences?

Not at all.

EFT is at the centre of my work. My training in Australian Bush Flower Essences gives me another complementary approach that we can discuss when it feels appropriate and when you are interested.

It is always your choice.

What happens if I get in touch?

You don’t need to write your life story in your first message.

Simply tell me a little about what has brought you here and that you would like to arrange an initial consultation.

We can take it from there.

WORKING TOGETHER

Support from wherever you happen to be.

All sessions are available online, which means we can work together wherever you live.

Let’s Talk

We begin with an initial consultation. This gives you the opportunity to tell me a little about what has brought you here, ask questions and decide whether working together feels right for you.

Your Personal Approach

There is no standard programme that everyone follows. We’ll talk about what you would like support with and agree an approach based around you.

Online EFT Sessions

We meet privately online. I’ll guide you through the tapping process while we gently explore the thoughts, feelings or experiences you would like to work with.

Something You Can Take With You

One of the things I love about EFT is that it doesn’t have to remain inside our sessions. As you become comfortable with tapping, you can use the technique yourself when you need it.

Still have a question?

If there is something I haven’t answered here, please ask.

There is no such thing as a silly question when you’re deciding whether something feels right for you.
